About this blog

This is my personal blog which I started in 2003. At first it was called Communigations, a variation on Communicative Investigations. The blog transformed itself more into a personal investigation than being a blog on communication and therefore needed a new name.As a fencer, the name of this blog reflects how I write my thoughts into coherent stories, fence them off from all the sidepaths and rapidly go back and forth, covering various topics that interest me.

Watch all the other chapters online. With [...]

I’ve finished Gladwell’s book Outliers, in which he researches the presets for succesful people. One of the things he makes clear is that although talent is the condition for first entry level, e.g. at a conservatory, but that becoming the extraordinary musician is defined by the amount of hours you put in. The best musicians [...]
Practice, not sheer genius
That is what Gladwell will be telling us in his new book on talented and successful people.10.000 hrs

Credit crisis perspective
Robert Paterson (one of the wonderful people we visited during our trip to Canada) has written some excellent posts on the current financial crisis. As a descendent from people who lost their capital in the 1930-s (my family looks so bland next to his’ ) and a former investment banker he has a good [...]
